Philanthropy









In 1904, 11 women created an organization that would provide educational, philanthropic and leadership opportunities for women - Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity. The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation was created in 1962 to ensure that the Fraternity's mission would live on into Alpha Gamma Delta's second century, allowing women of all ages to make positive differences on their campus and in their communities - leaving a legacy for generations of women to follow.
 
The MISSION of the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, Inc. is two-fold:
  • To generate financial resources to fund the educational, philanthropic and leadership purposes of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity
  • To support those purposes, for both members and non-members, through financial grants for scholarships; leadership training; diabetes research, education and equipment; emergency financial assistance; wellness issues; and programs that enhance high personal standards of ethics and values.

 Local Philanthropy Project!  This year we will be supporting A Kid’s Place as our local charity.   Located in Brandon, A Kid’s Place is a non-profit agency that opened in April 2009 to provide a safe environment for abused, abandoned and neglected children.  For more  information please read this article online: http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/article989384.ece  Tara will be meeting with A Kid’s Place in the coming weeks to assess their immediate needs for items.  We will be collecting  donations of items such as household goods, children’s clothing, toys, food, school supplies and hygiene products at our events throughout the year, which Tara will deliver. 

 

THANK YOU!!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Fundraisers this past Fall.  At our California Pizza Kitchen fundraiser, we raised close to $100.   The Harvest Brunch and auction raised $586, which was split with $250 going to the local Tampa Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation through our Walk for a Cure donation and $336.00 to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.  We sold 31 Entertainment Books for a total of $172.00 for Foundation.  All in all, we have raised over $600 for Foundation so far this year!  All of your support is greatly appreciated!!!  We are well on our way to our goal of  contributing $1,000 to Foundation, but we will need your support at the JDRF walk and at our  upcoming  California Pizza Kitchen Fundraisers.  I know we can make it!  Thank you all again!

Walk for the Cure & Potluck Picnic - Saturday, March 13th

Meeting Time:  8:30am    Race Time:  9:00 am

Meeting Place:  The Parking Lot side of the gazebo where the registration tables are.  Look for an AGD sign or red, yellow and green balloons.   

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 13th.  We will be meeting at Ft. DeSoto Park to walk in the JDRF Walk for the Cure and will have a potluck picnic on the beach afterwards.  Pre-registration is  required for participation and ANYONE can walk for our team.  So, be sure to forward the registration information to all of your friends and neighbors!  You can register on-line at  http://walk.jdrf.org/register.cfm?id=87613953 .  Once you fill in your personal information, check the box that indicates you are walking as part of a team and scroll the list to find Alpha Gamma Delta – we are near the top of the list.  Then, select Tara Prather under team captain.  It’s that easy!  The website will even help you by letting you set up your own website for donations!  If you don’t have access to email or the internet but would like to walk as part of our Team, please contact Tara and she can    register for you.   IF YOU ARE ABLE, PLEASE WEAR SOMETHING THAT SAYS AGD ON IT so that we can identify each other.   After the walk, we will have a potluck picnic on the beach for anyone who wants to stay.  Bring your own lunch or a snack and let’s have some fun relaxing together at the beach!  Tara will contact each of the team members closer to the walk date to coordinate the picnic.  In the meantime, should you have any questions, please contact Tara Prather.   T

California Pizza Kitchen Fundraisers:

International Plaza – Tuesday, March 23rd and Brandon Westfield Plaza – Friday, April 2nd

We are doing a fundraiser for Foundation at California Pizza Kitchen again.  This is a good opportunity to raise money for Foundation by just going out to eat with your sisters, family or friends!  In order for AGD to receive money from the fundraiser, all you have to do is give the official flyer to your server when you pay your check.  That’s it!  AGD will get 20% of your check total (before tax and tip).  No   additional cost to you at all!  Flyers will be available at the JDRF Walk on March 13th and also will be sent out via email and on Facebook.  If you don’t have access to email and would like a flyer mailed to you when they are available, please let Tara know.  For further information, contact Tara Prather.
